My History
I was born and raised in the craft - both of my parents are pagan.
My mother throughout her life has been a solitary-kitchen-herb-hedge-forest witch...she has shown me how to walk my own personal path, and how to develop my own senses and abilities to work with energy and with the earth. She taught me about herbs and plants and animals, that they are all animate individuals in their own right who deserve respect and love. I learned to talk - and listen - to plants, rocks, animals; to ask permission and to exchange rather than simply take - I learned that the world around me is an extension of myself.
When I was young my father founded his own coven and called it 'Sunwise' - as a member of this group I turned the wheel with the local pagan community and learned the beauty and complexity of writing and performing ritual. I worked with deities of the Egyptian and Greek pantheons and learned ceremonial magic, as well as how to connect those concepts through sympathetic magic to the earth and to ourselves. I experienced and learned much about the time, effort, energy, and thought it takes to produce a ritual and maintain energetic coherence in a group.
Years after my father’s coven had disbanded, I joined a group called Wrensgate. I turned the wheel with them for 7 years, learning an eclectic Celtic practice based on Keltrian druidism including working with the Oghams and the deities of Celtic, Norse and Germanic pantheons. The sacred trees and the associated mythology of this tradition resonated deeply with me and has become a central part of my path and practice.
When my time with this group came to a close, I began to see very clearly that so many of my life experiences had taught and prepared me to be a priestess - someone who performs rites and rituals, and serves the spiritual needs of a community - this lead me to founding my own group called The Hazelwood Collective. We offered ritual and gatherings to the community in Salt Lake City, Utah for 5 years. I learned and grew immensely during this time, and I am grateful for the time I spent with them.
My path has now brought me to Washington state. I spent a great deal of time here over the course of my younger years visiting family, and I am eager and excited to return to this land filled with such beautiful and sacred forests. It is my sincere hope to serve the community and earth here through Hazelwood Grove.
